The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony was instituted by Christ Himself, who joins a man and a woman together in a lifelong bond.  The love between a husband and wife should image the love of Christ for His Bride, the Church.

For Catholics to validly receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, and receive the graces promised by Christ, they ought to seek marriage in accord with the guidelines of His Church.
