Social Action

Parishioners of St. Mary's Parish are encouraged to support and participate in these social outreach opportunities. Check our bulletin for specific activities and times. Our parish supports the following:

Faith & Justice Committee Soup Kitchen
  HOPE Ministry Volunteer Home Care
  Pro-Life Committee Welcome Wagon

Faith & Justice Committee   Coordinator: Barbara Fogarty

This committee coordinates our Hope Ministry. It studies Faith and Justice issues. It helps keep Faith and Justice issues before the parish and offer opportunities for parishioners to better understand these issues and respond in a meaningful way. It encourages good citizenship (e.g. voter registration) and support of social needs on local, national and global levels.

Pro-Life Committee   Coordinator: John Tucker

This groups studies life issues and educates the parish on the various developments effecting life. They join with other groups and try to make public the injustices against life. They encourage prayer and other programs that can benefit persons in difficult circumstances and educate our parishioners about the various possibilities to address these concerns.

Parishioners perform the following tasks for shut-ins: visit shut-ins; read to an elderly person, write a letter for them, cook them a meal, take them to a doctor, go shopping for them. There is no long-term commitment. One project is done at a time. A travel allowance is available if one provides transports for someone. Contact the Topton Lutheran Home for participation.
